Eguavoen was unveiled as technical adviser of the Port Harcourt club on October 27, 2012 but appears to have left the club without overseeing a competitive match.
The former Enyimba trainer was conspicuously missing on the Sharks' bench when the club faced Warri Wolves in their opening game of the 2012/13 NPFL season with reports claiming that he was seen at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri for the Heartland versus Nembe City game on the same day.
Sharks have now offered an official explanation on Eguavoen’s continued absence at the club.
“Eguavoen asked for a documented form of his contract and we don’t have that ready at this moment as that usually takes time to complete,” General Manager of Sharks, Okey Kpalukwu told superport.com.
The club chief also revealed that the club has since suspended payment to Eguavoen until "this is sorted out."
“We have asked him to take some time off until this is sorted out. When we have documented his contract, we will ask him to resume but for the time being, he will not be paid salaries,” he said.
Sources however say it is highly unlikely that Eguavoen will return to the club as it is believed he left under very acrimonious circumstances.
Efforts by supersport.com to get the views of Eguavoen proved abortive as he neither took his calls nor replied text messages sent to him.
Chief coach, Daboere Dokubo masterminded the club’s 2-1 success over Wolves on Sunday and appears set to take the reins on permanent basis in the coming days.
